Dr. David Thomas is an Associate Professor and Director of the Centres for Feline & Canine Nutrition at Massey University, New Zealand.

With over 27 years of research experience, he is a leading authority on companion animal nutrition, specialising in the relationships between diet, the microbiome, and long-term health outcomes in cats and dogs.

His work explores nutritional strategies to support healthy ageing, optimise metabolic health, and extend healthspan in pets. Widely published and deeply engaged in translational research, Dr. Thomas brings a science-led, evidence-based perspective that aligns closely with the Pet Longevity Institute’s mission to advance preventative nutrition and improve the quality of life for companion animals.
